Lukashenko signs law on Belarus' accession to SCO international treaties

President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed a law on Belarus' accession to international treaties within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The document was published on the national legal internet portal on 13 July, BelTA has learned.

In accordance with the law, Belarus accedes to 22 international treaties as part of the process of obtaining the status of an SCO member state. Among them are the SCO Charter, the Shanghai Convention on Combating Terrorism, Separatism and Extremism, the Agreement on the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure, the SCO Convention on Privileges and Immunities, the agreements on cooperation in combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, on cooperation in identifying and blocking the channels of penetration of individuals involved in terrorist, separatist and extremist activities. The package of documents also includes the agreements on the procedure for organizing and conducting joint anti-terrorist measures and exercises, on conducting joint military exercises, on cooperation in the field of international information security, on cooperation in providing assistance in emergency response and also the SCO convention against terrorism, on countering extremism, the agreement on long-term good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation of the SCO member states.
