Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko suggested holding a SCO festival of cultures and creating a youth cooperation platform in the organization as he addressed the SCO summit on 4 July, BelTA has learned.

“We propose to consider a large-scale joint project - a SCO festival of cultures that could be held regularly. This project will introduce our nations to the diversity of cultures of our organization,” the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko warned that all SCO plans might remain on paper unless the work with the younger generation is intensified. “Much of what we are discussing now will be implemented by today's students. We need to think about creating the SCO for the Youth Platform,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.

At the end of his speech, the head of state congratulated Astana on taking over the chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. “I have no doubt that under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan, the SCO will receive a new development impetus,” the president noted.
