President: Belarus should not lose foreign sales markets of agricultural products

27.04.2007
Belarus should not lose foreign markets needed for selling its own agricultural products, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made it clear while visiting the Petrikov region today.

“Nowadays it is important to sell products, not just to raise the output. It is important not to lose sales markets, to preserve the Russian and other markets”, the head of state underlined.

Alexander Lukashenko praised the Gomel oblast practices used to remodel agricultural companies. “An almost 30% increase in profitability within three years is a good indicator”, the President noted.

The head of state has been informed, in 2003 out of 372 agricultural companies in the oblast there were 250 loss-making ones and 122 profitable ones. In 2006 there were only six unprofitable ones in the oblast.
