President demands to reduce cost of new housing by boosting housing construction

On November 12 President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with Piotr Prokopovich, chairman of the board of directors of the National Bank of Belarus, to receive his report. During the meeting the President urged to find possibilities of boosting housing construction to outperform the target of the five-year period. In the near future the proposals on how to boost the capacities of construction organizations will be submitted for consideration of the President, BelTA learnt in the presidential press service. On the whole, Piotr Prokopovich noted that the targets of the housing construction programme will be met in 2007. In January-October all the main targets of the monetary policy were reached. The national currency remained stable, crediting of the real economic sector has been gathering momentum, the payment system has been smoothly operating. According to Piotr Prokopovich, the banking system met all the obligations to the real economic sector. The banking system itself has been rapidly developing; all the targets related to boosting the resource base and bank capital have been met. The President demanded all appropriate measures be taken to meet all the targets of the banking system by the end of the year.
