Ms Sholeh Safavi-Hemami from Iran has been appointed new chief of the UNHCR Office in Belarus, Ilya Todorovich, an outgoing chief of the UNHCR Office in Belarus, told a press conference on December 11. According to him, Ms Sholeh Safavi-Hemami is currently working in Jordan and is in charge of the UNHCR programmes in Iraq. Ms Sholeh Safavi-Hemami is expected to arrive in Belarus at the end of January next year. Ilya Todorovich is leaving Belarus in mid January 2008 to take office of the head of the UNHCR Office in Tajikistan.
