Over 6 thousand needy residents of the Vitebsk region received financial assistance during the annual campaign of the Belarusian Red Cross "Care" in the region, the regional organization said.

The action was held from October to December 2019 with the aim of improving the quality of life of older people, drawing public attention to the problems of the most needy categories of citizens and providing social assistance to large, incomplete, low-income families. The labor collectives of institutions and organizations of various forms of ownership took an active part in the campaign. Among them are the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the enterprises Vitebskoblavtotrans, Vesta, Vitebskenergo, Belinvestbank in the Vitebsk region, Vitebskobldorstroy. Together, more than Br5.8 thousand were collected.

On January 10, in the Pervomaisky district of Vitebsk, during the campaign on the basis of the Inspiration branch of the Vitebsk City Center for Continuing Education for Children and Youth, representatives of almost two dozen families in especially dangerous situations will be given food packages and New Year's gifts for children. Similar events will be held this week in other areas of the regional center.
