Belarus-Russia Grandiskar to produce special-purpose vehicles in FEZ Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 2 July (BelTA) – The Belarus-Russia joint venture Grandiskar, a Latvian-capital company DIA-PLAST and the Pozhtekhnika Company have been registered as the residents of the Free Economic Zone Vitebsk, BelTA learnt from the FEZ department for investment and foreign economic relations. Grandiskar’s investment project envisages the production of special-purpose automotive equipment (up to 1,200 vehicles per year). The two sides plan to put over ?2.5 million in the manufacture. The company will produce special-purpose vehicles based on Ford, Peugeot and Iveco components. The lineup will comprise ambulance cars, law enforcement buses, insulated vans and vehicles for food transportation, tow trucks and hire vans. The plant will be located at the former aviation base. The project will provide nearly 50 new jobs. The bulk of the products will be delivered to the Russian market. The Latvian-capital DIA-PLAST will produce multifunctional polymer packing in the chemical industry. The investment project will cost almost ?1 million and create 60 new jobs. Over 80% of the products will be exported to Russia and the Baltic states. The Pozhtekhnika investment project will claim almost $5 million to upgrade the production of fire-extinguishing appliances and enhance the quality of products. 100 new jobs are envisaged. FEZ Vitebsk was founded in August 1999. There are 34 residents in the free economic zone. The majority of them are engaged in the engineering and woodworking areas, food, chemical, fuel and light industries. The FEZ total personnel reach 8,000 professionals. The FEZ Vitebsk territory exceeds 1,200 hectares.
