VITEBSK, 27 April (BelTA) - More than Br40 trillion will be invested in the Vitebsk Oblast regional program of innovative and investment development for 2011-2015, the chairman of the economy committee of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee Svyatoslav Zarovsky said at a session of the regional council of deputies, BelTA has learnt. In 2011-2015 investment and innovation activities in the region will be aimed at reducing the import content in the manufacturing industry, ensuring maximum utilization of local resources and reducing imports in general. The regional program is aimed at developing an effective innovation economy, the creation of new industries that produce high-tech products with high added value. The document features 19 sub-programs in key areas of socio-economic development. Their implementation will help Vitebsk Oblast double the gross regional product by 2015 as against 2010, increase exports of goods and services 2.6 times and reach a trade surplus of $250 million in 2015. Over the next five years Vitebsk Oblast plans to build over 3.8 million square meters of housing, create more than 31,000 jobs.
